The owner that was struck by a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! credits his Tesla for keeping him safe during the event. His young son was in the car with him; neither of them were injured. Here’s the close up photos!
Apparently, when he tried to call Tesla to tell them about the accident, the people answering the company’s phone thought it was a prank call. If someone could forward this to Elon’s twitter feed and let him know that this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (and said owner is extremely pleased with the car’s accident performance), that would be great.

Only if it gets totaled out by the insurance company and purchased by a madman very opportunistic person.

I’d bet it’s totaled
. I wonder who’s insurance takes the hit in this case? Hopefully
Cars of Fort Langley will fill us in.

Mergio better be up on his US insurance liability laws!
What will most likely happen is that the insurance companies involved will get together and assess liability (plane’s fault, obviously, but how much are they covered for?).

I don’t think the CLA really got tagged.
That black car in front of the Tesla got messed up as well.

if the plane is privately owned I would say the planes liability insurance is getting the bill.
But if it is American government owned I have no idea, I’d be guessing the car’s insurance will pay.

Tesla could use some good publicity. I’m curious how this would have gone with a comparable vehicle. I’ve been sending emails to NHTSA to start some plane-on-luxury-CUV crash testing but so far I’ve yet to receive word back.

Don’t tell the owner, but the only things not made of paper thin aluminum on those planes is the engine and the prop (admittedly the forward most parts)
. I’d take a car any day over a (general aviation)
plane in a head on.

Or maybe it’s invincible :)
IMO the Model X styling wasn’t harmed much either. It’s somehow more interesting now.

The Model X be ing hit by a plane caused $25 ,000 in improvements and better panel gaps than from the factory.

I mean, plane v luxo CUV crash testing makes total sense. It’s shocking that the government hasn’t mandated it yet.

All in, insurance would have to pay to repair the power lines the plane clipped, damages to the three cars it hit, punitive damages to any/all plaintiffs... This is definitely a seven digit settlement, but how close to eight digits will it get?

It’s just an A with a chopped top and a boot. I’m indifferent to them.

So, 2.2 ton SUV vs<1000kg
light aircraft. It’s not impressive at all.

Then, we get to take into account velocity, strike location, and other factors (namely the black car in the grass in front of the Tesla that got totally fucked up before the Model X was hit)...
